Job Description
Job Summary:
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with safety and electrical codes. The ideal candidate should have strong practical skills, good problem-solving ability, and familiarity with electrical components and tools used in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
This is a hands-on, technical role that requires commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Setup

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, switchboards, lighting, distribution panels, and fixtures in buildings or machines.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.

Set up electrical outlets, fans, air conditioning units, water heaters, and other electrical appliances.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Conduct routine inspection of electrical systems and equipment to identify issues.

Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical systems and components using appropriate tools and testing devices.

Perform preventive maintenance to avoid system failures or hazards.

Maintain records of repairs, replacements, and services conducted.
3. Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), IS standards, and company safety policies.

Use proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when handling live systems.

Identify and report any unsafe electrical conditions or practices.

Handle emergency repairs and power outages responsibly and quickly.
4. Equipment & Tool Handling

Use hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, pliers, cable cutters) and power tools (e.g., drills, saws) appropriately and safely.

Operate insulation testers, voltmeters, multimeters, phase testers, and clamp meters.

Ensure proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment.
5. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain service logs, maintenance checklists, and incident reports.

Submit daily work updates and reports to supervisors.

Maintain inventory of electrical supplies and request stock replenishment when needed.
6. Coordination & Teamwork
-
Collaborate with plumbers, HVAC technicians, civil engineers, and other tradespeople.

Support internal departments and tenants in resolving electrical issues.

Guide junior electricians or apprentices if part of the team structure.
