The Electrician (Electroplating Work) role is a specialized position within the manufacturing and industrial sector. It requires technical expertise in handling electrical systems along with in-depth knowledge of electroplating processes. Electroplating is the method of depositing a thin layer of metal onto the surface of another material through an electrochemical process. This role is critical in industries such as automotive, electronics, jewelry, hardware, and aerospace, where electroplated components are used to improve durability, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appeal.
An electrician working in electroplating operations must have a strong foundation in electrical maintenance, machine wiring, safety procedures, and plating equipment operation. The position involves ensuring that all electroplating machinery, power supplies, rectifiers, and related electrical systems function smoothly and efficiently, minimizing downtime while maintaining high-quality production standards.
Key Responsibilities

Installation & Maintenance of Electrical Systems

Install, maintain, and repair electrical circuits, wiring, switches, and panels used in electroplating plants.

Ensure all electrical connections for plating tanks, rectifiers, and heating systems are safe and functional.

Inspect and maintain control panels, timers, and automated systems.

Operation of Electroplating Equipment

Handle rectifiers and power supplies that provide controlled current for electroplating.

Monitor plating tanks, anodes, and cathodes to ensure proper functioning.

Maintain electrical heating systems used for plating solutions.

Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

Conduct regular inspections to detect potential faults.

Troubleshoot and repair issues related to motors, pumps, and electrical controls.

Ensure minimal downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns.

Safety & Compliance
-
Follow all safety guidelines for working with electricity and chemical processes.

Use protective equipment to prevent electrical shocks and chemical exposure.

Comply with environmental and industrial safety regulations.

Technical Support for Plating Processes

Support production staff in setting up plating parameters (voltage, current, timing).
-
Assist in calibrating rectifiers and ensuring uniform plating thickness.

Help maintain consistency in plating quality by ensuring stable electrical flow.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain logs of repairs, inspections, and electrical maintenance activities.

Record consumption of spare parts, rectifier loads, and breakdown reports.

Report major issues to supervisors or plant managers for corrective action.

Skills & Competencies Required

Electrical Skills

Proficiency in wiring, circuit repair, and electrical troubleshooting.

Knowledge of rectifiers, transformers, and control systems used in plating.

Ability to read electrical diagrams and machine manuals.

Understanding of plating processes (nickel, chrome, zinc, gold, etc.).

Minimum Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Electrical Trade.

0–6 months in an industrial setup as an electrician.

Experience in electroplating plants or similar industries preferred.
