Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician to perform a wide range of tasks related to electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical wiring systems, equipment, and fixtures. Additionally, the electrician must identify electrical hazards and defects, take corrective action promptly, and ensure all systems function efficiently and safely.
This role requires a strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and technical diagrams. The successful applicant must also be able to work independently or as part of a team, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Wiring and Installation

Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and technical specifications to determine wiring layouts and the location of electrical equipment.

Install new wiring systems, conduits, switches, circuit breakers, distribution panels, and outlets in compliance with national and local electrical codes.

Perform installation of lighting systems, power systems, and specialized electrical systems including motors, control panels, and backup generators.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, pliers, wire strippers, multimeters, and voltage testers, to complete installation projects.

Ensure that all installations meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC), safety standards, and project specifications.
2. Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Systems

Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems to ensure operational efficiency and prevent breakdowns.

Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical components, circuits, and systems using appropriate testing equipment.

Replace or repair defective components such as fuses, switches, wiring, relays, and lighting fixtures.

Maintain and repair electric motors, heating systems, industrial control systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) when applicable.

Document all repair activities, test results, and parts used in maintenance logs.
3. Hazard Identification and Defect Resolution

Conduct safety inspections to identify potential electrical hazards such as exposed wiring, overloaded circuits, or malfunctioning equipment.

Take immediate corrective action to repair hazards and defects, including rewiring, replacing faulty components, and upgrading outdated systems.

Advise management on areas that pose potential risks and recommend improvements or replacement of systems where necessary.

Ensure that lockout/tagout procedures are strictly followed during maintenance and repair operations to prevent accidental energy release.
4. Operational Efficiency and Safety Compliance

Ensure that all electrical equipment and systems operate at peak efficiency, reducing downtime and increasing productivity across operations.

Stay current with electrical technologies, methods, and industry trends to recommend upgrades that improve system performance.

Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, and participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications and licensure.

Assist in training junior electricians or apprentices, sharing knowledge and skills to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Competencies:

Strong knowledge of electrical theory and the functioning of electrical systems.

Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints.

Ability to install and repair electrical systems safely and effectively.

Skilled in the use of diagnostic and testing tools such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes.

Familiarity with PLC programming and control circuits is an advantage.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.

Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, supervisors, and team members.

Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
