Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation and Setup

Install and connect electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, communication systems, and equipment.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical codes to determine the layout of electrical wiring and equipment.

Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.

Ensure installations are compliant with local and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
2. Maintenance and Repair
-
Inspect electrical systems, components, and wiring to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce system failures and prolong equipment life.

Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
3. Safety and Compliance
-
Follow all safety procedures and protocols to protect self, colleagues, and customers.

Comply with OSHA safety standards and ensure that all work is performed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems meet current safety and operational standards.

Properly label and document all electrical panels, circuits, and equipment.
4. Project Support and Documentation
-
Work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned projects on time and within budget.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task.

Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to coordinate work and resolve problems.

Assist with estimating materials, labor, and time required for electrical tasks in support of project planning.
5. Tools and Equipment
-
Operate a variety of tools and equipment such as voltmeters, multimeters, wire strippers, conduit benders, drills, and testing devices.

Ensure proper care, maintenance, and safe use of tools and equipment used on the job.

Maintain inventory of supplies and tools; request replenishments as needed.
