Extruder Operator
Job Description
- Set up, operate, and monitor PMMA extrusion lines to meet production goals.
- Optimize extrusion parameters to maintain product specifications (clarity, thickness, width, mechanical properties).
- Work closely with R&D and quality teams to develop and refine new acrylic sheet grades or profiles.
- Diagnose and resolve process issues, minimizing downtime and waste.
- Maintain detailed documentation of process conditions, adjustments, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and coordinate preventive maintenance.
- Analyse production data and implement process improvements to enhance throughput and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation:

Prepare and set up the extruder machine according to the product specifications and daily production schedule.

Load raw materials (e.g., plastic pellets, granules, or rubber) into the extruder machine.

Adjust machine settings such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, and die selection based on production requirements.

Operate the extrusion machine to produce continuous lengths of product in accordance with established standards.
Quality Control & Inspection:

Monitor the extrusion process to ensure product quality, consistency, and dimensional accuracy.

Perform regular visual and physical inspections for defects such as warping, cracks, bubbles, or discoloration.

Measure and document product dimensions using calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

Perform routine checks and basic preventive maintenance on machines.

Identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues, escalating complex problems to maintenance or technical support as needed.

Keep the work area clean and free from obstructions, following 5S practices or company guidelines.
Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, material usage, and downtime reports.

Report any machine malfunctions, material issues, or quality problems to the supervisor promptly.

Follow work orders and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) as per manufacturing protocols.
Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.

Ensure safe handling of raw materials and equipment.

Comply with company policies related to safety, quality control, and hygiene.
