Fabricator and Welder
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Fabrication Duties:
-
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications to understand project requirements.
-
Measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on metal stock or workpieces using rulers, calipers, squares, and other measuring tools.
-
Cut metal materials using saws, plasma cutters, shears, torches, or CNC machines.
-
Bend, roll, and shape metal parts using manual or powered equipment such as presses, brakes, and rollers.
-
Assemble components to form complete structures or subassemblies using hand tools, clamps, and fixtures.

Ensure accuracy in dimensions and fitting during the assembly process.
Welding Duties:
-
Weld components together using various welding methods such as MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), depending on material and job specifications.

Set up welding equipment and adjust settings based on the materials and weld types required.
-
Perform tack welding to hold parts in position for final welding.

Ensure quality welds by performing proper cleaning, prepping, and positioning of materials.
-
Conduct visual inspections and, where applicable, non-destructive testing of welds to check for integrity and quality.
Safety & Maintenance:
-
Follow all company safety protocols, including the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), fire safety precautions, and safe handling of tools and equipment.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fabrication and welding work areas.

Inspect and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure proper functionality.
-
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
Documentation & Reporting:
-
Maintain accurate records of materials used, time spent on tasks, and completed work.

Complete job orders, fabrication logs, and inspection reports as required.

Assist with inventory control by tracking usage of materials and reporting shortages.
Collaboration & Communication:
-
Work with engineers, project managers, and quality control inspectors to meet project requirements and resolve issues.

Provide feedback on design and fabrication improvements for better efficiency or quality.

Coordinate with other team members on large projects or installations to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion.
