Hiring Factory Manager  – Modular Furniture Manufacturing-Tambaram Chennai
Key Responsibilities:1. Machine Operations & Technical Knowledge The candidate must have strong practical knowledge and experience in operating, setting up, and troubleshooting the following machines: ● Sliding Table Panel Saw – Woodtech PS132PV ● Automatic Edge Banding Machine with Pre-Milling ● CNC Nesting Machine ● Rapid Drill / Multi-Boring Machine ● Minifix Multi-Boring Machine ● Cold Press Machine Technical Responsibilities: ● Understand machine operations, settings, tooling, and production parameters. ● Ensure accurate cutting, drilling, edge banding, and panel processing. ● Identify machine-related issues and coordinate maintenance. ● Ensure machines are properly maintained and operated safely. ● Train machine operators and improve production efficiency. ● Minimize material wastage and machine downtime. 2. Production Planning & Management ● Manage complete factory production activities from raw material receipt to finished components. ● Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans. ● Allocate jobs to machine operators and carpentry teams. ● Monitor production progress and ensure timely completion. ● Coordinate between cutting, edge banding, drilling, assembly, and finishing departments. ● Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising quality. ● Maintain proper workflow and avoid production bottlenecks. 3. Manual Woodworking & Carpentry Knowledge ● Strong knowledge of traditional manual woodworking and carpentry is mandatory. ● Experience in manual cutting, sizing, drilling, grooving, and furniture assembly. ● Knowledge of modular kitchen, wardrobe, TV units, storage units, and other furniture manufacturing. ● Ability to understand furniture drawings and convert them into manufacturing instructions. ● Knowledge of hardware fitting, Minifix assembly, hinges, channels, and accessories. ● Ability to handle custom-made furniture and non-standard production requirements. 4. Client Handling & Coordination ● Coordinate directly with clients regarding manufacturing requirements and custom furniture specifications. ● Understand client expectations and translate them into production requirements. ● Handle technical discussions related to materials, dimensions, finishes, and manufacturing feasibility. ● Coordinate with designers, project managers, and site execution teams. ● Handle client complaints, quality concerns, and production-related escalations. ● Ensure commitments and delivery schedules are communicated clearly. ● Support site teams during installation-related technical issues. 5. Quality Control ● Establish quality checkpoints at every stage of manufacturing. ● Ensure dimensional accuracy of all components. ● Inspect cutting, edge banding, drilling, assembly, and finishing quality. ● Identify and rectify production defects. ● Ensure finished products meet approved drawings and specifications. ● Reduce material rejection, rework, and wastage. 6. Manpower & Team Management ● Manage machine operators, carpenters, helpers, and production staff. ● Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual performance. ● Train and develop machine operators and production workers. ● Maintain discipline, attendance, and productivity. ● Ensure proper coordination between all factory departments. 7. Inventory & Material Management ● Coordinate with procurement and stores teams. ● Monitor raw material consumption and stock availability. ● Ensure materials are available according to production schedules. ● Control material wastage and unnecessary consumption. ● Maintain records of material usage and finished goods. 8. Factory Maintenance & Safety ● Ensure preventive maintenance of all production machinery. ● Maintain machine servicing and maintenance schedules. ● Ensure proper handling of tools, blades, cutters, and accessories. ● Implement factory safety procedures. ● Maintain cleanliness and organized production areas. Candidate Requirements ● 5–10 years of experience in furniture manufacturing or modular interior production. ● Strong practical knowledge of panel saw, automatic edge banding with pre-milling, CNC nesting, rapid drill, multi-boring, and cold press machines. ● Hands-on experience in manual woodworking and carpentry. ● Experience managing factory production teams. ● Good knowledge of modular furniture manufacturing processes. ● Experience in client handling and technical coordination. ● Ability to read and understand technical drawings and production cut lists. ● Good communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ● Daily and monthly production targets achieved. ● On-time completion and dispatch of production orders. ● Machine utilization and reduced downtime. ● Minimum material wastage. ● Reduction in production defects and rework. ● Quality compliance across all production stages. ● Effective manpower utilization. ● Client satisfaction and reduced production-related complaints.
