Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Stitching Assistance:

Help in stitching garments under the guidance of the master tailor or senior staff.

Operate sewing machines (manual or electric) for basic seams, hems, or finishing.

Assist with tasks like attaching linings, zippers, buttons, hooks, or borders.
-
Perform hand stitching work when required for finishing or delicate areas.
2. Cutting and Fabric Handling:

Assist in laying out fabric for cutting as per pattern instructions.

Help trace or mark measurements on fabric with chalk or marker.

Support the cutting process by holding fabric, collecting pieces, and organizing them.

Fold, label, and store cut fabric in an orderly manner.
3. Finishing and Quality Check:
-
Iron finished garments neatly before packaging or delivery.
-
Trim threads, check seams, and inspect garments for quality.
-
Ensure neatness in finishing, such as piping, lining, or embroidery placement.

Report any sewing issues or fabric damage to the senior tailor.
4. Material Preparation and Organization:
-
Keep sewing tools (scissors, needles, bobbins, thread) organized and ready for use.

Assist in winding bobbins, threading machines, or setting up the work area.

Refill materials like thread, zippers, and buttons when stock is low.

Maintain cleanliness in the sewing area and proper storage of fabric and tools.
5. Customer and Fitting Support (if needed):

Help in handling fittings by assisting customers with trial garments.

Make note of alteration instructions and help pin or mark required changes.
-
Pack garments and deliver them to customers in the absence of the senior tailor.
