Fiber Technician
Job Description
Job Requirements:
The minimum qualification for this role is 10th and Experience/freshers should apply. Hands-on knowledge of fiber splicing & fiber network distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fiber Splicing & Maintenance
-
Perform fiber optic splicing, including fusion and mechanical splicing, for both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.

Test and validate spliced fibers using OTDR, power meters, and visual fault locators.

Conduct maintenance and repair of fiber routes, including cable faults, cuts, and connector cleaning.
2. Network Troubleshooting & Fault Resolution
-
Respond to service calls and resolve fiber network issues at customer premises, junction boxes, or main distribution frames.

Identify and diagnose issues in passive optical networks (PON), GPON, FTTH, or backbone networks.

Log and report all incidents and ensure proper closure of complaints within SLA timelines.
3. Installation & Commissioning

Support installation of new fiber lines, including last-mile connectivity for homes, offices, and commercial buildings.

Lay and pull fiber optic cables through ducts, poles, underground, and overhead routes as per design.

Terminate fibers into enclosures, patch panels, or distribution boxes.
4. Network Upgrade Support
-
Assist in fiber network upgrades, expansions, and migrations in coordination with the planning team.

Replace outdated or damaged components with improved fiber equipment, splitters, and connectors.

Read and interpret technical diagrams and fiber layout maps to implement upgrades accurately.
5. Documentation & Reporting
-
Maintain accurate records of splicing logs, network layouts, fault diagnostics, and repair actions.

Update the project or maintenance supervisor on daily progress, material usage, and issues faced on site.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures during fieldwork.
