Field Sales Associate
Job Description
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Field Sales Associate to support our on-ground sales operations in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. This is a field-based role that involves interacting with retailers, distributors, and end customers to promote and sell our products. The ideal candidate should have a good command over Tamil, basic math skills for sales and collection reporting, and a strong sense of reliability, discipline, and goal orientation.
This role is suitable for individuals who enjoy working outside the office, meeting new people, and are motivated by sales targets and relationship building. While owning a two-wheeler is preferred, it is not a strict requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Sales & Product Promotion

Visit retailers, grocery stores, and distributors daily to promote and sell the company’s FMCG products.

Ensure the visibility and availability of products in the assigned area or route.

Explain product features, offers, pricing, and promotional schemes to shopkeepers.

Upsell or cross-sell products based on shopkeeper needs and inventory levels.
2. Sales Target Achievement

Meet assigned sales and revenue targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Work independently in the field to develop and maintain a strong retail network.

Identify new sales opportunities or potential clients in the local market.
3. Order Booking and Fulfillment
-
Take daily orders from shops and ensure proper follow-up for deliveries.

Coordinate with the supply/logistics team for on-time delivery to customers.

Ensure minimum product returns by accurate order booking and customer engagement.
4. Collections and Reporting
-
Collect payment from retailers as per company credit terms (cash/cheque/UPI).

Maintain proper records of sales and collections in daily reports or mobile apps.

Report field activity, customer feedback, and market insights to the sales manager.
5. Relationship Management

Build strong and positive relationships with shopkeepers, retail staff, and distributors.

Address customer complaints or concerns politely and coordinate with the backend team for resolution.

Maintain professional conduct during all interactions with clients.
6. Market Intelligence

Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and product movement in the local market.

Share insights with the team for decision-making and product positioning.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
-
Minimum: 10th or 12th Pass.
-
Preferred: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
Experience:
-
Freshers with good communication skills and field readiness may also apply.
Language Requirements:
-
Fluent in Tamil (spoken and understanding). Basic English or Hindi is a plus.
Core Skills:

Basic math skills to maintain sales and collection records.

Ability to handle fieldwork independently.

Good communication and customer interaction skills.

Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.

Goal-oriented and self-driven mindset.
Technical Skills:

Basic knowledge of using smartphones for reporting (WhatsApp, Excel, Google Forms, or custom apps).

Ability to maintain physical records if required.
Other Requirements:

Possessing a two-wheeler with a valid driving license is preferred, but not mandatory.

Should be physically fit and willing to work on the field in all weather conditions.
