Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Field Sales Executive to join the merchant onboarding and sales team for Paytm, India’s leading digital payments platform. The candidate will be responsible for visiting local businesses, introducing them to Paytm’s range of digital payment solutions (QR code, Soundbox, EDC machines, Paytm for Business app), and ensuring active usage after onboarding.
This is a field-intensive role requiring daily travel, direct merchant interaction, and a commitment to meeting sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Merchant Onboarding

Identify potential local businesses such as grocery shops, salons, restaurants, medical stores, petrol pumps, etc.

Explain the benefits of Paytm's services (QR code payments, Paytm Soundbox, POS devices, loans, etc.)

Help merchants register on the Paytm for Business platform

Collect necessary KYC documents and complete onboarding procedures
2. Product Demonstration & Installation

Deliver and install Paytm QR codes, Soundbox devices, or card swipe machines at merchant locations

Demonstrate how to use the Paytm for Business App for payment tracking, settlements, and customer engagement

Guide merchants on maintaining compliance and security best practices
3. Target Achievement

Work on daily, weekly, and monthly targets for merchant onboarding, activation, and device installation

Track and ensure active usage of QR and Soundbox devices among onboarded merchants
-
Promote add-on services like Paytm Loans, Insurance, Gold Savings, or Paytm Business App features
4. Relationship Management

Build strong relationships with merchants to ensure retention and usage

Collect merchant feedback, resolve basic technical or operational issues, and escalate as needed

Educate merchants about current offers, cashback programs, or promotional campaigns
5. Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate records of visits, sales activities, and merchant onboarding in mobile CRM apps or spreadsheets

Submit daily reports to supervisors regarding performance, feedback, and operational challenges

Ensure proper documentation and follow-ups for pending leads

Good verbal communication skills in local language and basic English

Negotiation and convincing skills
Field Readiness:

Willingness to travel extensively within assigned area (on foot or by two-wheeler)

Knowledge of local geography and market is preferred

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Technical:

Basic smartphone handling and mobile apps usage

Familiarity with payment apps or banking apps

Able to use CRM/mobile reporting tools (training will be provided)
