Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, troubleshoot, and support Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) and other electronic devices.
- Provide customer training and technical support.
- Perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal device performance.
Qualifications:
- ITI in Electronics/Mechanical/Fitter OR
- Diploma in Electronics/Mechanical
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Field Service Technician in the Electronics, Electrical, or Telecom industry.
Job Details:
- Location: Kochi, Kerala (Resident Engineer)
- Mandatory Requirements:
- Two-wheeler with a valid driving license
- Android smartphone
- Travel: Across Kerala and occasionally to Chennai/ Goa/ Mangalore/ Coimbatore/ or other locations as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Setup
-
Install Vehicle Tracking Systems (GPS/GPRS-based) and related electronic hardware in various types of vehicles (cars, trucks, fleet vehicles, etc.).

Mount and configure sensors, antennas, control modules, and power connections following technical diagrams and safety standards.

Ensure that installation meets manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.

Test and calibrate devices after installation to ensure proper functionality and data transmission.
2. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Respond to service calls and diagnose technical issues with VTS units and associated components.

Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults in tracking systems, wiring, connectivity, or software configuration.

Repair or replace faulty components such as sensors, cables, connectors, and circuit boards.

Escalate complex or recurring issues to the technical support or engineering team as needed.
3. Maintenance & Support
-
Perform routine maintenance checks on installed systems to prevent future issues.

Update firmware and software on devices as part of system maintenance or troubleshooting.

Provide remote or on-site support to resolve operational issues and guide customers through basic system functions.

Document all maintenance work and service calls in accordance with company procedures.
4. Client Interaction & Training

Communicate with clients to understand their concerns, schedule service visits, and explain system operations.

Provide basic training to clients and drivers on how to use the VTS platform and associated software or mobile applications.

Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor during all client interactions.

Gather feedback from customers and report insights to the product and service teams.
5. Quality Assurance & Reporting

Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to internal quality standards and compliance guidelines.

Maintain accurate records of service work, including installation reports, photos, service logs, and client sign-offs.

Track inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment used during field work.

Generate service reports for internal tracking and client reference.
6. Safety & Compliance

Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures during field operations.

Ensure proper handling of electronic components and adherence to vehicle safety protocols.

Stay up-to-date with regulatory and compliance requirements related to in-vehicle electronics.
