Job Description

Purpose Of The Role

As part of a world-class Controllership group, the C&FRC organization is responsible for managing end to end credit and fraud process from reserve adequacy assessment through to the external and regulatory reporting.

Additionally, the C&FRC processes underwent a significant change with the implementation of IFRS9 effective January 2018 and CECL effective January 2020. They will work closely with Controllership, Risk, Risk Finance, Technologies, and other groups responsible for day to day deliverables.

This role will support tech development of various features for credit reserving, disclosures and management report as a Business Specialist and will form a part of the Troubled Debt Restructuring Group within the C&FRC organization.

Responsibilities

Create and communicate the vision, value and priorities of the product and collaborate closely and constantly with the development team and broader product owner team on the delivery of product features
Understand the needs of the business and the user with respect to the product/features
Gather feature requests from other business stakeholders and manage and prioritize them into a single backlog
Support user story creation and refinement including clear acceptance criteria
Create functional specification and process specific design documentation to support process and report owner requirements
Help prepare and prioritize user stories for sprint planning and backlog refinement meetings
Actively participate in the sprint planning, backlog refinement and sprint review meetings
Attend daily stand-ups and answer questions and remove impediments
Work closely and coordinate with various Product Owners, Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Architecture colleagues, and Data Management team to ensure builds are appropriate for American Express products
Lead user acceptance testing, parallel run testing, and any other testing required to ensure the build meets the requirements authored including development and execution of test cases, and documentation of results

Past Experience

Experience in areas like project management, process governance & control & compliance is required
SAS, SQL, HIVE, Pyspark, and data analysis experience
Product/platform understanding and process design experience
Testing management and execution experience
Foundational data warehousing principles and data modeling experience is a plus
Agile trained is a plus
In addition to above, experience with credit reserves and portfolio analysis, financial modeling and accounting is a plus
Experience with financial reporting requirements and processes is a plus
Exhibits organizational skills with the ability to meet/exceed critical deadlines and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
A self-starter, proactive team player with a passion to consistently deliver high quality service and exceed customers’ expectations
Excellent Communication Skills; Verbal, Written

Minimum Qualifications

Academic Background:

Degree in Software or Computer Engineering
2-5 years of testing management, project work experience including strong techno-functional skills

A good understanding of the banking products is a plus
SAS, SQL, HIVE, Pyspark and data analysis experience
Knowledge of Big Data Platforms
Awareness of relevant US GAAP/Local GAAP/IFRS is a plus
