Key Responsibilities:

1. Guest Service & Experience Management:

  • Greet guests upon arrival, ensure they are comfortably seated, and provide them with menus or recommend specials.

  • Oversee the entire dining service to ensure guest satisfaction from entry to exit.

  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly to any service requests, feedback, or concerns.

  • Ensure all guests receive courteous, prompt, and personalized service.

  • Resolve guest complaints professionally and escalate major issues to the Restaurant Manager as necessary.

2. Supervising Service Staff:

  • Lead and supervise the service team (waiters, runners, stewards, etc.) during shifts.

  • Assign tables and responsibilities to servers and ensure the team follows proper service sequences.

  • Conduct pre-service briefings to communicate menu changes, special promotions, or VIP bookings.

  • Monitor the appearance, grooming, and discipline of service staff to ensure professional presentation.

3. Service Operations Oversight:

  • Ensure proper setup of tables, dining areas, and service stations before each meal period.

  • Oversee table settings, cleanliness, and general upkeep of the restaurant.

  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order preparation.

  • Supervise food and beverage delivery to tables and ensure items are served according to established standards.

  • Maintain smooth communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams to minimize service delays.

4. Training & Development:

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in onboarding and training new staff in service procedures, etiquette, menu knowledge, and safety standards.

  • Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to staff on service skills, customer interaction, and upselling techniques.

  • Support cross-training initiatives to improve team flexibility and performance.

5. Sales & Upselling:

  • Promote daily specials, signature dishes, or seasonal offers to enhance guest experience and boost revenue.

  • Train staff on suggestive selling techniques and beverage pairings.

  • Monitor guest preferences and recommend personalized food and beverage options.

6. Hygiene, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP standards).

  • Regularly inspect dining areas, service equipment, and tableware for cleanliness and readiness.

  • Adhere to fire safety and emergency procedures and ensure team is trained accordingly.

  • Maintain daily logs and incident reports as required by management or authorities.

7. Inventory & Stock Monitoring:

  • Monitor usage of cutlery, crockery, linens, and other service items to prevent shortages or wastage.

  • Coordinate with the stewarding team for proper handling and cleaning of service ware.

  • Assist in monthly inventory counts and reporting for equipment and service tools.

8. Reporting & Administration:

  • Record shift activities, guest feedback, and staff performance issues.

  • Submit daily sales summaries, guest feedback forms, and incident reports to the Restaurant Manager.

  • Maintain shift rosters, attendance records, and staff scheduling documentation as needed.
