Key Responsibilities:
1. Medical Interpretation:
-
Provide real-time, accurate interpretation between French and English (or other required languages) for patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Interpret in various settings: consultations, medical procedures, emergencies, therapy sessions, and admissions.

Use proper medical terminology while maintaining cultural sensitivity and confidentiality.
2. Documentation & Translation:
-
Translate written medical documents such as patient intake forms, discharge summaries, prescriptions, and care instructions (if required).

Ensure that all translations are accurate, medically appropriate, and clear to the intended audience.
3. Cultural Mediation:

Assist in bridging cultural gaps between healthcare staff and French-speaking patients to improve understanding and trust.

Help patients express concerns, beliefs, or symptoms that may be influenced by cultural background.
4. Compliance & Confidentiality:

Adhere strictly to HIPAA (or local privacy laws) and confidentiality regulations.

Follow ethical codes and professional standards for medical interpreters.

Maintain impartiality and avoid providing medical advice or personal opinions.
5. Support & Coordination:

Coordinate with scheduling teams to ensure interpreter availability for appointments or emergencies.

Log interpretation sessions and maintain accurate service records.

Participate in interpreter training or healthcare orientation sessions as required.
