Planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation

Monitoring plant growth and diagnosing plant diseases
Key Responsibilities

Plant Care and Cultivation
-
Planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and other greenery according to seasonal and landscape plans.
-
Watering plants and monitoring soil moisture levels to ensure adequate hydration.
-
Fertilizing plants using organic or chemical fertilizers to promote healthy growth.
-
Monitoring plant health and identifying symptoms of disease, pest infestation, or nutrient deficiency.
-
Propagating plants through seeds, cuttings, or other methods when required.

Garden Maintenance
-
Regular weeding and mulching to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
-
Pruning and trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs to maintain shape, encourage growth, and remove dead or diseased wood.

Mowing lawns, edging borders, and aerating soil to maintain a tidy appearance.

Raking leaves, clearing debris, and disposing of green waste responsibly.
-
Cleaning garden tools, equipment, and working areas after use.

Pest and Disease Control
-
Applying pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides in a safe and regulated manner.

Monitoring pest activity and implementing environmentally friendly pest control measures when possible.

Keeping records of treatments and observations for future reference.

Soil and Irrigation Management

Testing and improving soil quality through composting, pH balancing, and amendment.

Installing and maintaining irrigation systems, including sprinklers, hoses, and drip systems.

Scheduling and adjusting watering based on seasonal weather conditions and plant requirements.

Landscaping and Design
-
Assisting with the design and layout of gardens and landscapes, including the selection and placement of plants.

Laying turf, building raised beds, and installing garden features such as trellises, borders, or decorative stones.

Collaborating with landscape architects or designers when working on larger or specialized projects.

Seasonal Duties

Preparing the garden for seasonal changes, including planting bulbs in fall, mulching in winter, and preparing beds in spring.

Removing snow and ice from walkways and garden paths in colder climates.

Protecting sensitive plants from frost or extreme heat through the use of covers or shade.

Safety and Compliance

Operating gardening tools and machinery safely, such as lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers.
