Job Description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Gravity Die Casting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our gravity die casting section. This role involves managing a team of operators and technicians, ensuring that die casting processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while maintaining high-quality standards.
The ideal candidate should have solid technical knowledge of gravity die casting operations, experience in managing production shifts, and the ability to troubleshoot problems on the shop floor. Strong leadership skills and attention to detail are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Supervision

Supervise and coordinate all activities related to gravity die casting operations during assigned shifts.

Allocate tasks to machine operators, molders, and other workers to meet daily production targets.

Monitor production processes and ensure that work is carried out in accordance with established standards and schedules.

Ensure availability of raw materials, tools, dies, and other equipment for uninterrupted production.
2. Quality Assurance

Ensure that all casting products meet dimensional, surface finish, and metallurgical quality standards.

Conduct visual inspections and oversee first-off and in-process checks.

Report and analyze defects, and take corrective actions to reduce scrap and rework rates.

Collaborate with the quality department to address non-conformances and improve product consistency.
3. Process Optimization
-
Monitor and control casting parameters such as metal temperature, pouring speed, mold preheating, and solidification time.

Suggest and implement improvements to enhance casting efficiency, reduce cycle times, and optimize mold life.

Support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing).
4. Equipment Maintenance
-
Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of gravity die casting machines, dies, and auxiliary equipment.

Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and handling of molds and tools to avoid damage or wear.

Work closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
5. Health & Safety
-
Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Report any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards to the management promptly.

Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks with the team.
6. Team Management

Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of casting operators and helpers.

Monitor attendance, discipline, and morale of the team.

Provide on-the-job training to new workers and support skill development of team members.

Maintain shift reports, production logs, and labor allocation records.
7. Reporting & Documentation

Maintain daily production records including quantity, downtime, rejection rates, and raw material consumption.

Submit shift-wise production and quality reports to the Production Manager.

Document and update casting procedures, maintenance schedules, and process changes as required.
Technical Skills
-
Knowledge of die casting machines, melting furnaces, metal alloys, and related tooling.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and casting specifications.

Basic understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment processes.

Proficiency in using measurement instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, etc.

Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 is a plus.
