Job Description

Job involves survey for ground water prospecting. Attitude to work hard is required. It involves outside job. Only part time job based on projects. Involves travelling. Payment on day rate basis. Outstation travel and food expenses will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Survey and Data Collection

Assist in conducting groundwater surveys in designated areas, including rural and remote locations.
Collect groundwater samples from wells, boreholes, hand pumps, and other water sources using prescribed procedures.
Measure water levels using appropriate equipment such as water level meters or dip meters.
Assist in aquifer tests like pumping tests and slug tests under the supervision of senior staff.
Record geological, hydrological, and geographical information of the survey site.

2. Instrument Handling and Maintenance

Operate field equipment including GPS devices, water quality testing kits, water level indicators, and data loggers.
Ensure proper calibration, usage, and maintenance of field instruments.
Report any equipment malfunction or need for repair to the technical supervisor.

3. Water Quality Testing

Conduct basic on-site water quality tests (e.g., pH, TDS, turbidity, temperature, and EC).
Properly label and preserve samples for further laboratory analysis, following safety and contamination-prevention procedures.
Assist in transporting water samples to designated laboratories if required.

4. Data Entry and Record Keeping

Accurately record all field observations, measurements, and test results in field notebooks or digital formats.
Enter collected data into computer systems or databases for further analysis.
Assist in preparing maps, charts, and graphical presentations under guidance.

5. Reporting and Documentation

Prepare daily and weekly field activity reports summarizing progress, observations, and any challenges faced.
Assist in compiling data for groundwater assessment reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.

6. Community Interaction and Coordination

Interact with local communities, landowners, farmers, and panchayat members to collect basic information about water usage and well history.
Help raise awareness about sustainable water use practices, groundwater conservation, and contamination risks.
Coordinate with government departments, NGOs, and other stakeholders as directed.

Skills and Competencies:

Good observational and analytical skills.
Basic knowledge of hydrogeology, groundwater science, and water management practices.
Familiarity with GPS and mapping tools.
Ability to accurately record and interpret field data.
Physical fitness and stamina to work in outdoor and remote environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel extensively across regions and work under varied weather conditions.
Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation (MS Excel, Word, etc.).
