Gypsum Carpenter / Construction Helper
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
For Gypsum Carpenter:
-
Installation of Gypsum Systems:
-
Measure, cut, and install gypsum boards according to architectural drawings and specifications.
-
Perform ceiling grid installation, drywall framing, and wall partitioning using metal or wooden studs.
-
Install false ceilings, bulkheads, reveals, and soffits.
-

Finishing and Jointing Work:
-
Carry out taping, jointing, and finishing work using compound materials.
-
Smooth and level surfaces to prepare for painting or final finishes.
-
Repair or patch any damaged or unfinished gypsum boards.
-
-
Tool and Material Handling:
-
Use hand tools (tape measure, utility knife, T-square) and power tools (drills, screw guns, cutting tools) safely and correctly.
-
Ensure that all tools and equipment are well-maintained and stored properly.

Blueprint and Drawing Interpretation:
-
Read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, and ceiling layouts.
-
Understand dimensions, levels, alignments, and materials specified.
-

Safety and Quality:
-
Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE (helmets, gloves, goggles).
-
Ensure high standards of craftsmanship and neatness in all gypsum works.
-
Report any structural or material issues to the supervisor immediately.

For Construction Helper:
-
Support to Skilled Workers:
-
Assist gypsum carpenters, electricians, masons, and painters on-site.
-
Hold materials in place, mix compounds, and provide tools as required.
-

Material Management:
-
Load and unload materials such as gypsum boards, steel channels, compounds, and other building supplies.
-
Move materials to designated areas safely and efficiently.
-

Site Cleanliness and Organization:
-
Sweep, clean, and remove debris from the job site regularly.
-
Organize tools and materials to maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.
-

Basic Labor Tasks:
-
Perform lifting, digging, sanding, or climbing when required.
-
Carry out assigned tasks such as cutting, measuring, or marking materials under guidance.

Teamwork and Communication:
-
Cooperate with skilled tradesmen and other helpers.
-
Listen and follow directions from the foreman or supervisor carefully.
