Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Operation:

Operate heavy vehicles, including trailers, trucks, lorries, or tankers, depending on the industry and assignment.

Follow assigned routes and delivery schedules provided by dispatch or the supervisor.

Drive in a safe and responsible manner at all times, adhering to traffic rules and regulations.

Navigate urban and rural roads, construction sites, and warehouses as required.
2. Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection:
-
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and performance.

Monitor fuel, oil, water, brakes, tires, and other mechanical systems.

Report any mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance needs to the fleet manager or mechanic immediately.

Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained at all times.
3. Delivery and Loading:
-
Load and unload cargo using forklifts, lifting equipment, or manually (as applicable).

Ensure proper securing of goods to avoid damage or spillage during transport.
-
Deliver cargo to designated destinations and obtain signatures or confirmation of receipt.

Verify delivery documents such as invoices, packing slips, or manifests.
4. Documentation and Compliance:

Maintain accurate records of driving hours, routes taken, deliveries made, and fuel consumption.

Comply with legal weight limits and transport regulations, including safety and environmental policies.

Carry necessary permits, licenses, and identification while on duty.

Adhere to company procedures regarding the handling of goods, especially hazardous or sensitive materials.
5. Communication and Coordination:

Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, and clients to update on delivery status or delays.

Respond to route changes, emergency instructions, or customer requests in a timely manner.

Work collaboratively with warehouse, logistics, and loading teams to ensure smooth operations.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong driving skills with a proven safety record

Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and basic troubleshooting

Familiarity with GPS navigation and digital tracking devices

Ability to handle long routes, tight schedules, and night driving

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Physically fit and capable of handling manual tasks (if required)
