Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible and dedicated Housekeeping Attendant to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation within our hospital premises. The ideal candidate should be attentive, hard-working, and respectful of patient privacy and hospital standards. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a safe and infection-free environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
A housekeeping attendant in a hospital setting is not just responsible for basic cleaning but also must follow strict infection control procedures, handle biohazardous waste safely, and ensure all areas—especially patient wards, ICUs, OPDs, restrooms, and operating rooms—are maintained to the highest hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Cleaning Duties

Clean and sanitize patient rooms, ICUs, emergency units, and wards as per the housekeeping schedule.

Mop and disinfect floors, corridors, staircases, and entrances using appropriate solutions.

Dust and wipe down furniture, windowsills, handrails, and equipment surfaces.

Clean and restock public and patient washrooms regularly throughout the shift.
2. Infection Control and Sanitation

Use disinfectants, antiseptics, and cleaning agents as per hospital infection control policies.

Follow protocols for cleaning isolation rooms or areas with contagious patients.

Dispose of used linen, medical waste, and biohazardous materials using color-coded bins and PPE.

Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (e.g., bed rails, doorknobs, switches) frequently to prevent infection spread.
3. Waste Management

Collect general waste, biomedical waste, and sharps separately and dispose of them according to hospital procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Ensure all garbage bins are emptied and cleaned regularly.

Replace liners in dustbins and maintain waste collection records if required.
4. Patient Room Turnover

Prepare rooms for new admissions by cleaning, disinfecting, and making beds with fresh linen.

Report any broken furniture, leaks, or maintenance issues to the supervisor immediately.

Assist in the transportation of patient linen or personal items during discharge if instructed.
5. Restocking and Inventory

Refill soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, tissue rolls, and other housekeeping supplies in patient and public areas.

Notify supervisor when cleaning materials or tools are running low.

Take care of housekeeping equipment like mops, vacuum cleaners, trolleys, etc.
6. Support for Emergency Cleaning

Respond promptly to emergency cleaning calls—such as spills, patient accidents, or contamination.

Maintain composure and follow hygiene protocols strictly under pressure.

Work closely with nursing and infection control staff to assist in emergency scenarios.
