Housekeeping Attendant
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Floor Sweeping and General Cleaning
-
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors in rooms, hallways, lobbies, staircases, and other public or private areas.

Clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery as needed using appropriate equipment and products.
-
Dust and wipe down furniture, fittings, shelves, baseboards, and decorative items.
-
Empty and sanitize wastebaskets, ashtrays, and other containers; dispose of trash according to guidelines.

Maintain cleanliness in common areas, such as reception spaces, lounges, and corridors.
2. Window and Mirror Cleaning
-
Clean windows, glass panels, and mirrors using safe and streak-free methods.
-
Remove smudges, fingerprints, and dust using appropriate cloths, sprays, or tools.
-
Ensure all glass surfaces are spotless, including bathroom mirrors, glass doors, and lobby partitions.
3. Laundry and Linen Handling
-
Collect, sort, and transport soiled linens, towels, uniforms, and other fabrics to the laundry area.
-
Operate laundry machines (washer, dryer, steamer, iron) safely and according to protocols.

Fold, press, and store clean linens and clothing in designated storage areas.

Replace used linen in guest rooms and ensure adequate stock is maintained in linen closets.

Report linen shortages or damage to the housekeeping supervisor.
4. Room and Facility Cleaning
-
Clean and sanitize guest rooms, bathrooms, and public restrooms thoroughly and efficiently.

Replenish amenities such as toiletries, towels, tissues, and drinking water.

Make beds neatly and change bed linens based on occupancy and schedule.
-
Ensure that high-touch areas (doorknobs, remote controls, switches) are disinfected.

Report any maintenance issues, damage, or missing items to the supervisor or engineering department.
5. Cleaning Tools and Equipment Maintenance
-
Use housekeeping equipment (mops, vacuums, buckets, dusters, etc.) properly and safely.

Clean, disinfect, and store equipment after use.

Inform the supervisor about any broken or malfunctioning tools and request replacements if necessary.
6. Safety and Hygiene Compliance
-
Follow all safety and hygiene protocols to prevent cross-contamination or accidents.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks when handling chemicals or soiled items.
-
Adhere to health and safety regulations as per organizational and governmental standards.
7. Guest Interaction and Support (if applicable)

Greet guests politely and respond to basic requests (e.g., additional towels or toiletries).

Respect guest privacy and follow the “Do Not Disturb” policy.

Maintain professionalism and courtesy during guest interactions.
