Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a responsible and experienced Housekeeping Attendant (Supervisor level) to lead and support the housekeeping team in delivering high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and guest satisfaction. The role involves managing housekeeping staff, coordinating with the Guest Services team, conducting daily room checks, maintaining inventory, handling guest requests promptly, and overseeing the discipline and performance of the housekeeping department.

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staff Supervision and Coordination:

  • Supervise and assign daily tasks to housekeeping attendants, room boys, and janitorial staff.

  • Ensure proper grooming, punctuality, and conduct of all housekeeping staff.

  • Provide training and support to new housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety, and guest interaction.

  • Maintain work schedules and shift rosters to ensure full coverage during operational hours.

2. Cleanliness and Upkeep:

  • Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, lobbies, washrooms, corridors, and service areas are cleaned and maintained as per established standards.

  • Monitor deep cleaning schedules and spring-cleaning tasks.

  • Ensure proper use of cleaning tools, machines, and chemicals by the staff.

3. Daily Inspections and Room Checks:

  • Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, suites, and public areas to ensure cleanliness, room readiness, and upkeep.

  • Report any maintenance issues or damage to the engineering team for prompt repair.

  • Inspect linen and guest amenities for quality and availability.

4. Guest Requests and Coordination:

  • Coordinate closely with the Guest Service / Front Office team to prioritize check-in/check-out room readiness.

  • Handle guest requests promptly and courteously, such as extra towels, laundry pickup, or room cleaning on demand.

  • Ensure all VIP and special guest requirements are met to satisfaction.

5. Inventory and Supplies Management:

  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, guest amenities, linen, and uniforms.

  • Prepare purchase requests and ensure timely ordering of housekeeping materials.

  • Maintain accurate records of stock received, issued, and consumed.

  • Prevent misuse or wastage of supplies through proper control.

6. Reports and Status Updates:

  • Maintain housekeeping checklists, duty rosters, room status updates, and shift reports.

  • Coordinate with the front desk on room status (cleaned, inspected, ready, under maintenance).

  • Submit daily and weekly reports on housekeeping performance, room inspections, and inventory usage.

7. Discipline and Performance Management:

  • Monitor staff attendance, timekeeping, and productivity.

  • Address staff complaints or conflicts and escalate serious issues to management.

  • Evaluate individual and team performance regularly.

  • Enforce discipline and professional behavior within the housekeeping team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification: 10+2 or equivalent (Hotel Management Diploma is preferred).

  • Familiarity with cleaning techniques, housekeeping tools, materials, and health & safety standards.

  • Good communication skills in English and the local language.

  • Basic computer knowledge to update room status, prepare reports, and manage inventory records.
