Job Description
Key Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning & Sanitation of Hospital Premises:
-
Sweep, mop, scrub, and disinfect hospital floors, walls, windows, and furniture in patient rooms, ICUs, OTs, wards, waiting areas, and other designated spaces.
-
Clean and sanitize patient beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and medical trolleys regularly.
-
Ensure that dusting and wiping of surfaces, desks, monitors, medical equipment, and fixtures are done daily.

Refill consumables like soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, tissue rolls, and room fresheners as required.
2. Washroom Maintenance:
-
Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, taps, mirrors, urinals, and shower areas at regular intervals.

Ensure restrooms are always dry, clean, odor-free, and stocked with necessary supplies.

Use appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants as per hospital-approved guidelines.
3. Waste Management:
-
Collect and segregate waste in colored bags (bio-medical, general, recyclable) according to hospital waste management policy and government norms.

Safely handle biomedical waste (soiled dressings, syringes, disposables, etc.) while wearing gloves and PPE.

Transport waste to the designated storage area or collection point using hospital-provided bins or trolleys.

Keep records or logs (if assigned) of waste disposal schedules.
4. Infection Control:
-
Follow strict infection prevention guidelines during cleaning of high-risk areas (ICU, OT, COVID zone, etc.).

Immediately clean up spills of blood, body fluids, or medicines using the correct protocol and disinfectants.

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, aprons, masks, or gowns as per area-specific rules.

Disinfect commonly touched surfaces like door handles, switches, rails, and lift panels multiple times a day.
5. Support to Hospital Staff:
-
Assist nursing or ward staff with non-clinical patient handling tasks like shifting beds, carrying files, or transporting linens.
-
Help prepare patient beds for new admissions and clean beds after discharges.

Replenish supplies in patient rooms, isolation wards, or procedure areas if required.
-
Deliver food trays, water bottles, or housekeeping items where instructed by supervisors.
6. Equipment & Supplies Management:
-
Use cleaning machines, vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, and disinfectant sprayers correctly and safely.
-
Maintain all cleaning equipment in proper working condition and report any damages immediately.

Ensure responsible use of hospital cleaning materials, minimizing wastage.
