Housekeeping Staff - Thane
Job Description
Clean and tidy all areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living spaces, and hallways
-
Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, and mop floors

Make beds and change linens regularly
-
Restock toiletries, towels, and other supplies as needed
-
Wash and iron laundry, and fold/organize clothes
-
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces
-
Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly
-
Report any maintenance issues, damages, or needed supplies
-
Follow safety and sanitation policies and procedures
-
Handle special cleaning projects or seasonal deep cleaning
Key Responsibilities
1. Cleaning and Sanitization
-
Perform daily cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming across all hospital areas including wards, patient rooms, ICUs, waiting areas, restrooms, and offices.

Disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, switches, and equipment.
-
Sanitize medical and surgical areas as per hospital infection control protocols.
2. Waste Management
-
Segregate and dispose of biomedical and general waste according to hospital and government guidelines.

Ensure color-coded bins are used correctly for different waste types (biomedical, plastic, glass, general).
-
Remove garbage regularly and ensure disposal areas are kept clean and odor-free.
3. Laundry Support (If Applicable)
-
Collect soiled linens from patient rooms and deliver them to the laundry section.

Assist in distributing clean linen and ensuring the linen storage area is organized and hygienic.
4. Restocking and Supplies
-
Refill supplies such as soap, hand sanitizers, tissue papers, toilet rolls, and other consumables in restrooms and patient rooms.

Inform the supervisor when cleaning supplies or disinfectants are running low.
5. Adherence to Safety and Hygiene Protocols
-
Follow strict infection control procedures, especially in isolation rooms, ICU, OT, and post-surgical areas.

Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, masks, gowns, caps, etc.) as required for each area.

Ensure the proper use and storage of cleaning agents and equipment to avoid accidents or misuse.
6. Assistance and Coordination
-
Assist nursing or support staff in moving equipment or supplies when requested.

Report any maintenance issues (broken equipment, water leakage, faulty lighting, etc.) to the supervisor promptly.

Communicate politely and respectfully with patients and hospital staff.
7. Emergency Response
-
Respond quickly during emergencies (e.g., spills, accidents, disinfection needs).

Ensure rapid cleanup and proper sanitation of any contaminated area as instructed.
