Job Overview

An HR Manager is responsible for managing the entire employee lifecycle within an organization. The role focuses on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll administration, training & development, policy formulation, and compliance with labor laws. The HR Manager ensures that the organization’s human capital supports its business objectives and fosters a positive, productive, and engaging work environment.

This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities and hands-on operational skills to manage day-to-day HR activities while aligning with long-term organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent.

  • Manage end-to-end hiring processes, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

  • Collaborate with department heads to understand staffing needs and define job descriptions.

  • Build a talent pipeline through networking, employee referrals, and partnerships with recruitment agencies.

  • Ensure a smooth and positive candidate experience.

2. Employee Onboarding and Orientation

  • Conduct employee induction and orientation programs.

  • Ensure smooth integration of new hires into the organization’s culture and processes.

  • Prepare employment contracts, appointment letters, and other joining formalities.

  • Assign mentors or buddies for new employees to enhance engagement.

3. Performance Management

  • Implement performance appraisal systems such as KPI-based evaluation, 360-degree feedback, or OKRs.

  • Set performance benchmarks and review employee achievements periodically.

  • Identify high-performing employees and plan career development paths.

  • Address performance gaps through coaching, counseling, and training initiatives.

4. Training and Development

  • Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) to identify skill gaps.

  • Organize technical, soft skills, and leadership training sessions.

  • Collaborate with external trainers and e-learning platforms for professional development programs.

  • Foster a learning culture by encouraging continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing.

5. Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution.

  • Build a positive workplace culture through engagement activities and recognition programs.

  • Conduct regular employee satisfaction surveys and take corrective measures where needed.

  • Organize team-building sessions, cultural events, and wellness programs to enhance morale.

6. Payroll and Benefits Administration

  • Oversee salary processing, incentives, and statutory deductions like PF, ESI, TDS, and gratuity.

  • Manage attendance, leave policies, and overtime records.

  • Ensure competitive compensation structures aligned with industry benchmarks.

  • Handle employee benefits, insurance policies, and rewards programs.

7. Policy Development and Compliance

  • Draft and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and SOPs.

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and statutory requirements.

  • Liaise with government bodies during audits, inspections, and compliance checks.

  • Manage disciplinary procedures in line with organizational policies.

8. Strategic HR Planning

  • Partner with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with business objectives.

  • Forecast future workforce requirements and develop succession plans.

  • Monitor market trends, workforce analytics, and retention strategies.

  • Implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices to build a balanced workforce.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of HR software (HRMS, ATS, Payroll systems).

  • Familiarity with labor laws, compliance norms, and statutory frameworks.

  • Expertise in workforce planning, recruitment, and talent management.

  • Strong command over compensation and benefits structuring.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Empathy and emotional intelligence to handle employee relations.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.

  • Master’s Degree / MBA in Human Resource Management preferred.
