Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of HVAC systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup:
- Install heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in new buildings or as part of renovation projects.
- Set up HVAC units, including ductwork, air handling units, and air conditioning systems.
- Ensure all components are installed according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
- Perform initial system checks and tests after installation to verify proper functionality.
Maintenance and Inspections:
- Conduct regular maintenance and preventive checks on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Clean and replace filters, check refrigerant levels, inspect electrical components, and lubricate moving parts.
- Inspect and troubleshoot HVAC units to detect faults or inefficiencies and make recommendations for necessary repairs.
- Perform system diagnostics and identify issues using tools like gauges, meters, and thermometers.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and repair heating, cooling, and ventilation issues, including problems with compressors, thermostats, motors, and fans.
- Replace defective parts, such as motors, compressors, and thermostats, and ensure the system is operating at peak efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with HVAC systems, including electrical issues, refrigerant leaks, airflow restrictions, and mechanical failures.
- Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and building codes.
System Upgrades and Replacements:
- Advise clients on system upgrades, replacements, or energy-efficient alternatives that can improve system performance or reduce energy costs.
- Recommend and install energy-efficient equipment and systems, such as smart thermostats or energy-saving filters.
- Replace outdated or inefficient HVAC systems with newer, more energy-efficient models.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining maintenance procedures, repairs, and system features to clients.
- Offer advice to clients on how to maintain their HVAC systems and increase their lifespan.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures when working with electrical and mechanical components.
- Ensure all work meets local building codes, safety standards, and HVAC industry regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper disposal of old parts and materials.
- Handle refrigerants and other chemicals in compliance with environmental regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of service calls, repairs, maintenance performed, and any parts replaced.
- Submit reports or work orders to supervisors or clients detailing the work completed.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and tools used during repairs and maintenance.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other HVAC mechanics, engineers, and contractors to complete large-scale projects.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior HVAC technicians or apprentices.
- Work with other tradespeople to ensure all building systems are properly integrated and functioning.
