Job Description
Applications are invited for positions of Group Leaders at International Centre for Genetic
Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi Component, with experience in the
following research areas:
1) Metabolic Engineering of Plant and Algae: Incumbent must have excellent record of
research/publications in the area of plant and algal molecular biology and metabolic
engineering with the aim to produce drug and biofuel molecules with ability and commitment to build a dynamic research program. Deep expertise in the area of metabolic engineering of plant and algae will be essential for the candidate.
2) Omics of algae: Incumbent must have excellent record of research/publications in various areas of Omics, i.e., Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics and Lipidomics,especially dealing with algae for biofuel and valuable biochemical production with ability andcommitment to build a dynamic research program. Deep expertise in the area of Omics ofalgae and/or other organisms will be essential for the candidate.
3) Systems Biology for Biofuel and Biochemical Production: Incumbent must have excellent
record of research/publications in various areas of Systems Biology, e.g., Flux Balance
Analysis, Metabolic Flux Analysis, Metabolic Labelling Studies, Metabolic Engineering, etc
with ability and commitment to build a dynamic research program. Deep expertise in the
area of Systems Biology of various organisms, including cyanobacteria and bacteria, for biofuel production and reconstruction of genome scale metabolic models will be essential for the candidate.
4) Yeast Genome Engineering and Biofuel Production: Incumbent must have excellent record of research/publications in the areas of yeast molecular biology, such as yeast metabolic engineering, yeast derived biofuels and biochemicals, yeast based gene expression analysis and multi-drug resistance with ability and commitment to build a dynamic research program.
Deep expertise in the area of yeast molecular biology and physiology, especially for biofuel
production will be essential for the candidate.
Applicants must have significant accomplishments that are commensurate with their career
stage and should have the ability to compete for extramural national/international funding.
Ability and commitment to build a dynamic program of international stature is essential.
Candidate/s will be expected to initiate their own research programs, guide Ph.D. students and
participate actively in teaching Ph.D. level courses as well as post-Ph. D. level training
