Job Description
Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, including those on life support or with unstable conditions.
Monitor and interpret patient vital signs and respond to changes in condition promptly.
Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and advanced life support procedures.
Operate and monitor sophisticated ICU equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Document patient information, treatment plans, and responses accurately in medical records.
Educate and support patients’ families regarding patient conditions, treatments, and care plans.
Follow all hospital policies and safety procedures, including infection control standards.
Respond to medical emergencies and perform life-saving procedures when required.
Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with incoming nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Monitoring and Care:

Provide vigilant and continuous monitoring of patients’ vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.

Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed by physicians.

Manage ventilators, infusion pumps, and other ICU medical equipment.

Assess patients’ physical and emotional status regularly and report changes promptly.
2. Critical Interventions:
-
Perform advanced nursing procedures such as airway management, wound care, catheterization, and tracheostomy care.

Assist in emergency procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and intubation.

Implement infection control protocols to minimize hospital-acquired infections.

Ensure proper pain management and comfort measures for patients.
3. Documentation and Communication:

Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting observations, interventions, and responses.

Communicate effectively with doctors, family members, and multidisciplinary teams regarding patient status and care plans.

Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork:

Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Participate in daily ICU rounds and contribute clinical insights.

Support junior nursing staff and assist in training new ICU nurses.
