Job Description
Individual Consultant – GEF Concept Design Specialist - (International Consultant)
Duty Station: Home based with possible travel to project sites – India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
Education: Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as natural resource management, environmental management, development studies or any other related area;
Experience:Minimum of 7 years’ experience working with developing countries on ecosystems and biodiversity issues, fisheries, marine ecosystem conservation, International Waters, and sustainable management
Proven experience with GEF project development, implementation and management;
Proven experience in the policy development processes associated with environment and sustainable development issues;
Proven experience in successful preparation of GEF multi-focal area PIF and projects
Experience working with UNDP or any other UN agency considered an asset
Previous experience working with India and South Asian countries considered an asset;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; commitment to team - work and to working across disciplines;
Good understanding of the GEF rationale and procedures;
Excellent drafting ability and presentation and communication skills, both oral and written in English; ability to explain complex issues to UNDP staff and external partners;
Language: Excellent command of English is required.
