Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is committed to providing access to crowd-sourced information resources that reflect the knowledge of the world. Reporting to the Manager of Community Development, you will develop capacity-building curriculums for our online learning pilot that engages 3 unique volunteer populations and a trainer incubation project that supports 10-15 emerging leaders who will drive future movement capacity building efforts.
The Instructional Designer will work closely with the Community Development team to understand learning objectives and priorities of each program and develop movement focused, adult-centered learning curriculums and materials that will build the necessary skills and knowledge necessary for movement growth.
It is key that you have experience designing and delivering adult-learning curriculums, courses and training in diverse, global settings, and the ability to employ a variety of design principles to ensure accessibility and relevance of content for a diverse range of learners from all over the world. We are seeking an individual who embraces the core principles of the Wikimedia movement, such as openness and collaboration and who will be an effective project manager, an advocate for open knowledge, and excited to support and grow all types of leaders at diverse stages of life and in diverse cultural contexts.

You are responsible for:
- Developing the core curriculum materials include learning courses, modules and resources for the Community Development online learning pilot and trainer incubator that will launch in January 2021
- Collaborating with pilot cohort leads to understand the capacity needs of their participants and develop online learning experiences that builds skills, knowledge and meets pre-determined learning and pilot objectives
- Supporting the end of project evaluation process and report out that will provide recommendations and best practices for the Community Development team to better support online learning and leadership development
- Facilitating online learning experiences during the pilot period
- Other duties as needed
- Professional experience developing instructional/curriculum design focusing on online adult learning and pedagogical understanding in global settings
- 2+ years in lab, incubator/accelerator program design, facilitation and evaluation
- Demonstrated instructional design experience with a focus on online and in-person curriculum and resource design, ability to evolve content into impactful and accessible learning resources and experiences
- Experience with open learning management systems such as Moodle
- Experience working internationally within multilingual and multicultural contexts with wide networks of stakeholders and learners
- Understanding of best practices for cultural/contextual inclusivity to ensure learning resources and experiences reflects multiple perspectives
- Ability to develop resources for various learning styles, accessibility needs
