Job Description
Job Purpose
The Interior Designer will be responsible for delivering end-to-end design and client servicing for modular kitchens and wardrobes at the Godrej Interio retail showroom. The role combines technical knowledge of modular furniture systems, client consultation, space planning, estimation, and showroom operations to deliver outstanding customer experiences and meet business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong creative skills, in-depth product knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple clients while working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Designing Modular Kitchens and Wardrobes

Understand client needs, lifestyle preferences, and space requirements through consultations at the showroom or site visits.

Prepare detailed design layouts, 2D drawings, 3D renders, and modular plans using design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or specialized kitchen design tools.

Apply ergonomic and space optimization principles to ensure functional and aesthetic designs aligned with Godrej Interio’s brand standards.

Suggest suitable finishes, materials, fittings, and accessories based on product availability, client preferences, and budget.

Customize modular units, considering site conditions, civil constraints, and client requirements, while maintaining product integrity and feasibility.
2. Showroom Operations

Ensure the showroom design area and product displays are visually appealing, up-to-date, and aligned with seasonal trends or marketing campaigns.

Maintain updated samples, catalogs, material swatches, and finishes to support effective client discussions.

Support the Store Manager in maintaining hygiene and orderliness of the design studio area.

Collaborate with other showroom staff (sales, customer support, logistics) for smooth customer journey.

Stay updated with new product launches, features, and technical specifications through internal training and communication.
3. Estimation and BOQ Preparation

Prepare detailed quotations, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), and cost estimates based on finalized designs and product selections.

Collaborate with the estimation or backend team to validate price lists, offers, discounts, taxes, and installation charges.

Ensure all necessary items (hardware, accessories, panels, etc.) are included in the estimate to prevent errors during production or installation.

Maintain pricing transparency with clients and adhere to company pricing policies.
4. Client Presentation & Consultation

Conduct professional design presentations for walk-in and appointment-based clients using mood boards, renders, samples, and technical layouts.

Explain the design concept, material options, space usage, and modular solutions in a convincing and customer-friendly manner.

Address client queries related to design feasibility, timelines, installation processes, product warranties, and after-sales support.

Provide multiple iterations based on client feedback and guide them toward finalization within project timelines.
5. Client Management

Serve as the single point of contact for clients from design consultation to installation handover.

Ensure high standards of client communication, follow-up, and relationship management.

Regularly update clients on the progress of design finalization, production status, and installation timelines.

Coordinate with the production, delivery, and installation teams to ensure timely and error-free execution.

Manage client expectations and resolve design-related issues efficiently and professionally.
Additional Responsibilities

Attend internal training sessions, vendor meets, and product workshops to upgrade skills and knowledge.

Track market trends, competitor offerings, and customer feedback to improve design proposals and client engagement.

Maintain design files, project documentation, and client databases as per showroom SOPs.

Support the team in achieving monthly sales and conversion targets through effective design pitches and value-selling techniques.

Occasionally assist in showroom marketing events, home expos, or promotional activities to generate leads and engage prospective customers.
Key Skills Required

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, or any kitchen design software (like KD Max, ProKitchen, or similar).

Strong design aesthetics and understanding of space planning, modular concepts, and contemporary interiors.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and team coordination.

Time management and multitasking abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities for design-related and execution challenges.

Knowledge of materials, hardware, finishes, and modular manufacturing processes.

Familiarity with estimation software or Excel-based BOQ tools.
Educational Qualification & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

Minimum years of experience in interior designing, preferably in modular kitchens and wardrobes.

Experience working in a retail showroom or modular furniture brand is highly preferred.

Knowledge of Godrej Interio products or similar modular systems is an added advantage.
Work Environment and Conditions

Full-time role based out of the Godrej Interio Retail Showroom.

Requires weekday and weekend availability (rotational weekly offs).

Client visits and occasional site surveys required.
