Job Description

An ISP (Internet Service Provider) OSP (Outside Plant) Support Engineer would be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure, both inside and outside of buildings, to ensure reliable internet service delivery. This includes managing fiber optic and copper cabling networks, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design and Implementation:
This involves designing and deploying FTTH/FTTX networks, including DWDM, MUX, OLT, and ONU technologies.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Diagnosing and resolving network issues, both remotely and on-site, with a focus on minimizing downtime.
Site Surveys and Planning:
Conducting site surveys to assess installation requirements for fiber optic cables and other network components.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations, as well as conducting quality assurance checks on installations and repairs.
Team Collaboration:
Working with other engineers, field teams, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution and efficient operations.
RMA Management:
Handling Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for hardware, managing spares, and coordinating replacements.
Work Order Management:
Managing work orders for installations, repairs, and maintenance, ensuring timely completion.
Network Optimization:
Proactively monitoring network performance and implementing solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
Traffic Management:
Rerouting traffic and optimizing network capacity to minimize service disruptions.
Change Management:
Implementing changes to the network in accordance with established procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IP networking, including MPLS, CCNA, and CCNP (or equivalent experience).
OSP/ISP Knowledge: Experience in designing and implementing both inside and outside plant infrastructure, including fiber optics and copper cabling.
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve network issues using various tools and techniques.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex technical problems under pressure.
Project Management Skills: Experience in managing network projects from initiation to completion.
Telecom Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with telecom standards, regulations, and best practices.
FTTH/FTTX Experience: Experience with Fiber to the Home/Premise technologies.
