Job Description
Job Summary:
An ITI Fitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components, machinery, and equipment in industrial settings. The role requires hands-on expertise in fitting metal parts, using tools and machines to fabricate, align, and install components to precise specifications. ITI Fitters play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations and minimizing downtime in manufacturing, construction, and maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand fitting requirements.

Measure, mark, cut, and shape metal components using hand tools, power tools, and machine tools.

Assemble and fit parts such as shafts, gears, bolts, and bearings according to engineering standards.

Perform installation, alignment, and testing of mechanical assemblies and machinery.

Conduct routine maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment to prevent breakdowns.

Identify and replace worn or damaged parts to maintain equipment efficiency.

Ensure all fitting work adheres to safety standards and quality specifications.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly store tools and equipment.

Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and other technicians to complete projects on time.

Report any equipment failures, safety hazards, or production delays to supervisors.
Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in using hand tools such as files, hammers, wrenches, and screwdrivers.

Ability to operate machine tools like lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

Good understanding of mechanical principles and machine operation.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.

Strong attention to detail and precision in fitting tasks.

Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.

Awareness of workplace safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Educational Qualifications:

Successful completion of ITI Fitter trade from a recognized Industrial Training Institute (ITI).

Additional certifications in welding, machining, or maintenance will be an advantage.
