Applications  are  invited  on  prescribed  format  for  the  following  assignment  in  a  purely  time  bound  research  project undertaken in the School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of this Institute. 

1.  Name of the Temporary Assignment  : Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 Post

2.  Name of  the temporary research Project  : “Computational alloy design and mechanical property study of complex  concentrated alloys” 

3.  Name of the Sponsoring Agency  : Naval  Materials  Research  Laboratory  (NMRL),  Defence  Research  and  Development Organisation (DRDO) 

4.  Consolidated Emolument  : Rs. 31,000/‐ HRA @16% per month

5.  Period of Engagement   : Initially for 1 year with possible extension depending on performance

6.  Duration of the project   : 18 months

5.  Qualification :

a. Essential Qualifications: B. Tech. from IITs in Metallurgical engineering/Materials Science Engineering/related fields or M. Tech. from reputed institutes in Metallurgical engineering or Materials Science or related fields or M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry from reputed institutes with Valid GET Score NET-LS

b. Experience: The candidate should have a strong fundamental understanding of Metallurgical and Materials Science concepts, for example, crystal structure, electronic structure, phase diagrams, solidification of alloys, mechanical behaviour of metals, mechanisms of plastic deformation in metals, etc. The candidate should have a strong background in computational modelling, programming in C/C++/Python/FORTRAN, and numerical methods. Experience with molecular dynamics and DFT methods are desirable but not mandatory.

7. Project title: Computational alloy design and mechanical property study of complex concentrated alloys

8. About the project: The project involves computational study of multi-principal element alloys using Molecular Dynamics and DFT methods. The project is aimed at exploring new compositions for ductile and strong high entropy alloys possible reducing the cost.
