Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a SERB (DST) funded research project entitled "Elucidating the functions of CHROMO domains - H3K9me3 interactions in plasmodium parasites with special focus on virulence genes" in the Laboratory of Dr. Arumugam Rajavelu at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

1. Position: Junior Research Fellow; 01
2. Essential Qualifications
a. The candidate must have consistent academic record with first class Master's Degree in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry.
b. The work includes cultivation of malarial parasite under laboratory conditions; therefore the candidate should have at least 1 year experience in P.falciparum culture.
3. Desirable Qualifications: Candidate who have qualified National Eligibility Test - CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)/ or National Level Examination conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions viz., DBT-Biotechnology Eligibility Test/ Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JBEEBILS)/ ICMR Entrance Exam/ Approved DST Inspire Fellowship etc are preferred.
4. Emolument: ₹ 31,000/- + 16% HRA per month for NET/GATE qualified candidates. For others the emoluments will be as per DST/DBT guidelines.
5. Duration: Three years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year and extendable till termination of the project based on performance evaluation on yearly basis.
Below 30 years as on May 22, 2021. Age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.
