Job Description
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) invites applications from eligible candidates for the
position of Junior Research Fellow in Astrophysics for ISRO-RESPOND funded project titled
“Variability of the UV sky using UVIT onboard ASTROSAT” at the Manipal Centre for Natural
Sciences (MCNS), Centre of Excellence, MAHE, Manipal.
Qualification:
The essential qualification for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position:
Post Graduate Degree in Physics OR Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in
Professional courses in Electronics /Electrical/Computer Science/Other
relevant branches selected through a process described through any one of
the following :
a. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests - CSIR-UGC
NET, including lectureship (Assistant professorship) and GATE.
b. The selection process through National level examinations conducted by
Central Government Departments and their Agencies and institutions such
as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
Desirable qualification: A strong physics background with good computational skills and knowledge of programming in python/perl. Previous experience in optical/UV data analysis will be preferred. Candidate with qualifications prescribed for JRF with two years of research experience could be considered for the Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position.
Duration of Project: The appointment will be till May 31, 2021 subject to the availability of funding
Remuneration: Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA (as admissible) for JRF Rs. 35,000 per month + HRA (as admissible) for SRF
