Qualification: M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry(Inorganic/Physical)/Electronics/Optics/Photonics/Biological Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Physiology or equivalent) with NET/NET- LS/GATE/National Level Exams conducted by MHRD/UGC/IIT/IISc/IISER etc. Or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Chemical/Production/Electronics & Instrumentation or equivalent/Production/Laser Science/Laser Technology/Laser Engg or equivalent with NET/ NET- LS/GATE/National Level Exams conducted by MHRD/UGC/IIT/IISc/IISER etc. Or ME/M.Tech/MS in Mechanical/Chemical/Production/Electronics/& Instrumentation or equivalent/Production/Laser Science/Laser Technology/Laser Engg or equivalent/Modelling & Simulation with NET/ NET-LS/GATE/National Level Exams conducted by MHRD/UGC/IIT/IISc/IISER etc.

Qualification: M.Sc in Physics with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA/DGPA + 2 years of research experience in the field of photonic applications of glass.Or BE/B.Tech in Electronics & Communications with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA/DGPA + 2 years of research experience in optoelectronics related field. or M.Tech. in Optics and Opto-electronics/Micro-Electronics Experience in DFT fitting is desirable.
Preference will be given to those candidates having 1st class degree.
Stipend : Rs.28,000/- + 24% HRA as admissible p.m

Ray, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal in presence of eminent personalities : Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Prof. C.V. Raman, Dr. Meghnad Saha and others. Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar was then Director-General of CSIR while Dr. Atma Ram was Director of the Institute.
