Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electroplating Solution Preparation and Maintenance:
-
Assist in preparing electroplating baths using precise chemical formulations for metals like nickel, chrome, zinc, copper, etc.

Measure and mix acids, salts, and additives as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Regularly monitor and adjust chemical concentrations in plating baths to maintain optimal performance.
2. Laboratory Analysis and Testing:
-
Conduct wet chemical analysis, titration, and pH testing of plating solutions and rinse waters.

Test for parameters like metal ion concentration, acidity/alkalinity, contamination, and solution strength.

Record results and compare with specification limits, reporting deviations to senior chemists or supervisors.
3. Process Quality Control:
-
Perform sample plating runs and analyze results for coating thickness, adhesion, and finish.

Help investigate causes of plating defects such as peeling, discoloration, roughness, or uneven coating.

Support regular audits of plating lines and baths to identify potential quality issues.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
-
Maintain logs of chemical consumption, plating bath analysis, test results, and adjustments.

Assist in preparing technical reports and data sheets for process improvements.

Maintain accurate records of chemical stock, expiry dates, and MSDS compliance.
5. Safety and Compliance:
-
Follow lab safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE (gloves, goggles, aprons).

Handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals in line with environmental and regulatory guidelines.

Participate in training on chemical handling, emergency response, and waste management.
6. Support for R&D and Process Development (as required):

Work with senior chemists to trial new bath formulations, additives, or surface pre-treatment processes.

Assist in evaluating alternative chemicals or eco-friendly plating solutions.
