Job Description

 Maintaining Kitchen food quality & hygiene

Timely preparation & Delivery

Managing ingredients & avoid wastage

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, marinating, or seasoning as per recipe or prep list.

  • Cook menu items using a variety of kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, stoves, and steamers.

  • Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.

  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner, especially during peak hours.

  • Assist with preparing sauces, soups, salads, side dishes, and desserts as directed.

2. Quality and Presentation

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, flavor, and presentation.

  • Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets the standards for taste, texture, portion size, and visual appeal.

  • Taste food items before serving to ensure flavor consistency and accuracy.

3. Hygiene and Safety

  • Follow all food safety regulations and hygiene practices as outlined by local health authorities.

  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of work areas, cooking utensils, tools, and kitchen equipment.

  • Store food items properly in refrigerators, freezers, or storage areas according to safety and hygiene guidelines.

  • Handle food allergens carefully to avoid cross-contamination.

  • Wear proper uniform and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

4. Kitchen Maintenance & Inventory

  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify supervisors of shortages or spoilage.

  • Assist in receiving and storing kitchen deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.

  • Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) method to minimize waste.

  • Dispose of food waste and expired items according to kitchen protocols.

5. Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with chefs, line cooks, dishwashers, and service staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

  • Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and communicate any issues promptly.

  • Offer help to team members during busy hours or special events to meet service timelines.

  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude in a team-oriented kitchen environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Formal culinary training or certification is a plus but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • Minimum years of experience in a professional kitchen environment preferred.

  • Experience in a restaurant, hotel, catering service, or commercial kitchen is beneficial.

  • Freshers with strong interest in cooking may be considered for trainee roles.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods (e.g., grilling, baking, sautéing).

  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP knowledge is a plus).

  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.

  • Strong time-management and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and in high-temperature environments.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy kitchen items.
