Job Summary:
The Kitchen Helper and Housekeeping is a crucial role that supports the day-to-day operations of a restaurant’s kitchen and ensures the cleanliness and organization of both kitchen and dining areas. The position involves a mix of dishwashing, food preparation, cleaning tasks, and assisting chefs in getting the restaurant ready for service. This role ensures that both the kitchen and dining environment remain clean, hygienic, and conducive to high-quality food preparation and guest service.
The ideal candidate is a motivated and reliable team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can take direction, and maintains cleanliness and hygiene standards to the highest level.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Kitchen Assistance and Pre-Preparation

Vegetable and Ingredient Preparation: Assist with washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping vegetables and other ingredients as per the chef's instructions.

Food Prep Assistance: Help with basic food preparation tasks like marinating, mixing, and organizing ingredients to ensure that the kitchen runs efficiently during peak times.

Pre-Preparation for Cooking: Set up and organize kitchen tools, utensils, and ingredients needed for the chef’s preparations, making sure all items are easily accessible during cooking.

Assisting the Chef: Provide support to the chef and other kitchen staff in executing meal preparations. This includes handing over ingredients, assisting in setting up cooking stations, and following instructions for meal prep.
2. Dishwashing and Cleaning

Dishwashing: Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment after each service, ensuring they are clean and ready for reuse.

Cleaning Kitchen Equipment: Regularly clean kitchen appliances, tools, and surfaces (cutting boards, counters, stoves, etc.) to ensure they are sanitary and free from debris.

Sanitation: Ensure all kitchen surfaces, including floors, workstations, and storage areas, are properly sanitized throughout the day.

Waste Management: Properly dispose of food waste, packaging, and other waste materials following health and safety regulations.
3. Housekeeping and Restaurant Cleaning

Table Cleaning: Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, and dining areas before and after each guest’s visit, ensuring a neat and inviting atmosphere for guests.

Restaurant Premises: Ensure the entire restaurant is cleaned throughout the day, including the front-of-house (dining area) and back-of-house (kitchen, storage rooms, etc.). Sweep and mop floors, wipe down surfaces, and maintain cleanliness in restrooms.

Organizing the Dining Area: Set up dining areas by arranging chairs, adjusting table settings, and ensuring that the overall presentation is in line with the restaurant’s standards.
4. Guest Service Assistance

Serving Guests: Assist the waitstaff and restaurant manager in serving food and drinks to guests when needed, ensuring prompt and courteous service.

Customer Interaction: Help address guest needs, such as offering additional condiments, refilling water glasses, or removing empty plates from tables when appropriate.
5. General Kitchen and Restaurant Support

Supporting Kitchen Workflow: Help with the organization of kitchen stock, moving ingredients or supplies from storage to the kitchen area as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.

Stocking and Inventory: Assist in checking the inventory levels of cleaning products, utensils, and kitchen supplies, and inform the management of low-stock items.

Preparation for Service: Assist in setting up the kitchen for service, including organizing ingredients and ensuring all necessary tools are in place for a smooth operation.

Support during Busy Times: During peak hours or busy service periods, offer extra hands to assist with the flow of work, including food prep, dishwashing, or cleaning tasks.
Required Qualifications:

Experience: No prior experience required, but prior kitchen or cleaning experience in a similar environment (restaurant, hotel, cafeteria) is a plus.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 30 lbs), and work in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Hygiene: Familiarity with proper food handling, cleaning, and sanitation practices.

Communication: Ability to follow instructions from the chef, kitchen manager, and restaurant staff.

Team Player: Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment, helping colleagues when necessary.
