Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Setup and Operation

Operate laser cutting machines (CO₂, fiber, or other types) to produce components as per job specifications.

Set up the machine by selecting appropriate parameters such as power, speed, and focus depending on the material and job type.

Load and align raw materials (sheets, plates, etc.) onto the machine bed using clamps, magnets, or other supports.

Ensure machine calibration is correct before initiating the cutting or engraving process.
2. Reading Drawings and Job Orders
-
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job instructions to determine specifications such as material type, dimensions, and tolerances.

Program or input G-code or machine instructions directly or through compatible CNC software.

Adjust machine settings according to the design file or operational requirements.
3. Quality Control and Inspection
-
Monitor the machine operation during production to ensure accuracy and detect any errors or malfunctions.
-
Measure finished products using calipers, gauges, or micrometers to ensure they meet quality standards.
-
Make necessary adjustments or rework to correct minor issues without compromising material.
-
Identify defects in materials or processes and report issues to the supervisor or quality team.
4. Maintenance and Safety
-
Perform routine maintenance on the laser machine, including lens cleaning, alignment checks, and coolant level monitoring.

Troubleshoot minor mechanical or software issues and report major faults to the maintenance department.

Follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE and adhering to fire safety and ventilation procedures in the laser area.

Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards or cross-contamination.
5. Documentation and Reporting
-
Maintain accurate records of work completed, including quantities, materials used, and downtime.

Fill out inspection checklists, production logs, and maintenance sheets as per company policy.

Label and organize completed parts for the next stage in the production process or delivery.

Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and support departments as needed.
