Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lecturer in Biochemistry to teach and guide first-year college students in their foundational understanding of biochemical concepts. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background in Biochemistry, a passion for teaching, and the ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging for beginners.
The role involves delivering lectures, preparing course materials, assessing student performance, and contributing to the overall development of the academic program.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

Teach core Biochemistry topics to first-year undergraduate students as per the prescribed syllabus.

Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory sessions.

Introduce students to fundamental concepts such as biomolecules, enzymes, metabolism, cell biochemistry, and molecular biology basics.

Ensure teaching methods are interactive, clear, and adapted to students at the beginner level.
2. Course Material Preparation

Develop lecture notes, presentations, study guides, and laboratory manuals.

Ensure course content is up-to-date with the latest research and meets academic quality standards.

Prepare question banks, assignments, and quizzes for student evaluation.
3. Student Mentorship & Support

Provide academic guidance and support to students, especially those struggling with the subject.

Encourage curiosity and scientific thinking in young learners.

Offer career guidance related to life sciences, research, and further education.
4. Assessment & Evaluation
-
Design and conduct tests, mid-term exams, practical assessments, and final examinations.

Evaluate and grade assignments, laboratory reports, and exams fairly.

Provide constructive feedback to help students improve.
5. Laboratory Management

Supervise biochemistry practical sessions ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.

Guide students in handling lab equipment and performing experiments accurately.

Maintain laboratory inventory, chemicals, and instruments in coordination with lab assistants.
6. Academic Administration & Contribution

Maintain attendance records and academic performance data.

Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum reviews.

Assist in organizing academic events such as workshops, seminars, and guest lectures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
-
Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry or a closely related field.

Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related discipline (preferred but not mandatory).

UGC-NET / SLET qualification is an added advantage for permanent faculty positions.
Experience:
-
Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred, but fresh postgraduates with strong subject knowledge may also apply.

Experience in academic research, publications, or laboratory supervision will be an asset.
Skills:
-
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of Biochemistry.

Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (knowledge of the local language is an advantage).

Ability to simplify complex concepts for beginners.

Good classroom management skills.

Proficient in using MS Office, educational software, and online teaching tools.
