Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Team Management:

Supervise and lead a team of machine operators, technicians, and other shop floor personnel.

Assign daily tasks to the team based on the production schedule, ensuring that targets are met on time.

Provide training and mentorship to new and existing staff, ensuring they understand machine operations, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to enhance their skills and improve overall team performance.
2. Production Planning and Scheduling:
-
Coordinate with the production planning team to ensure that machines and resources are allocated effectively.

Monitor and adjust the production schedule to meet deadlines while ensuring efficient machine utilization.

Track progress and adjust workflows to optimize production, minimize downtime, and prevent delays.

Ensure that the required materials, tools, and equipment are available for the production runs.
3. Machine Operation and Maintenance:

Oversee the operation of CNC machines, lathes, mills, grinders, and other manufacturing equipment.

Ensure machines are maintained regularly to avoid unplanned breakdowns or delays.

Implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure all machines and equipment are in good working condition.

Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions, making necessary adjustments or coordinating with the maintenance team for repairs.
4. Quality Control:

Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards by monitoring machine settings and overseeing inspections.

Work with quality control teams to conduct routine inspections and ensure conformance to tolerances and specifications.

Address quality issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Ensure the documentation of quality reports and issues for traceability and compliance with standards.
5. Safety and Compliance:

Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and machine operating procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure that employees follow proper PPE (personal protective equipment) guidelines.

Perform routine safety inspections of machines and equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, such as OSHA, ISO standards, and company policies.
6. Process Improvement and Optimization:

Identify and implement improvements to production processes, aiming to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize waste.

Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

Lead efforts to improve machine setups, cycle times, and overall machine shop productivity.

Collaborate with engineers and management to optimize workflows and improve the overall efficiency of the machine shop.
7. Inventory Management:

Ensure that adequate levels of raw materials, tools, and consumables are available for machine operations.

Monitor inventory usage and reorder supplies as needed to prevent shortages or delays.

Track and manage the inventory of spare parts for machines and equipment.
8. Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of production output, machine performance, maintenance schedules, and quality checks.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production efficiency, downtime, and quality metrics.

Document any operational issues and follow up to ensure timely resolutions.
