Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Supervision and Coordination

Supervise a team of electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, carpenters, and other maintenance staff.

Assign and schedule daily tasks, shifts, and emergency duty rosters.

Ensure maintenance personnel follow safety guidelines and hospital protocols.

Provide training, guidance, and performance reviews for team members.
2. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
-
Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for hospital equipment and infrastructure.

Oversee daily inspections of critical systems such as air conditioning, water supply, sewage systems, fire alarms, and medical gas systems.

Respond to repair requests and maintenance issues promptly, minimizing disruption to hospital operations.

Maintain backup systems (e.g., power generators, UPS, emergency lighting) to ensure readiness during outages.
3. Equipment and Asset Management
-
Maintain records of hospital equipment, tools, and consumables used in maintenance.
-
Monitor wear and tear of assets and initiate procurement or repair as needed.

Ensure proper inventory control for maintenance supplies and spare parts.
-
Coordinate with biomedical engineering teams for servicing of medical equipment when required.
4. Compliance and Safety

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with hospital policies, government regulations, and healthcare facility codes.

Monitor and maintain safety systems, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, and emergency exits.

Conduct regular risk assessments and safety drills in coordination with the hospital safety officer.

Keep documentation ready for inspections by hospital accreditation agencies and local authorities.
5. Vendor and Contractor Management

Liaise with external vendors, service contractors, and suppliers for repairs, equipment installation, and maintenance contracts.

Review vendor performance, verify work quality, and ensure service agreements are honored.

Obtain and evaluate quotes for outsourced work, ensuring budget alignment and timely delivery.
6. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed maintenance logs, asset histories, and service records.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports for facility management and hospital administration.

Monitor maintenance KPIs (key performance indicators) such as downtime, response time, and service completion rates.
