Job Overview

The Manager – Chemical Plant Operations is a senior-level role responsible for leading and managing the overall functioning of a chemical manufacturing facility. This position requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of chemical processes, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. The manager will oversee daily production activities, manage teams across different departments, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and contribute to strategic planning aligned with the company’s objectives.

In addition to technical and managerial expertise, the role demands strong communication skills, with fluency in English, Bengali, and Hindi, to effectively interact with diverse teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations Management

  • Oversee daily chemical plant operations, ensuring efficient production and adherence to schedules.

  • Monitor manufacturing processes to maintain product quality, consistency, and efficiency.

  • Optimize plant performance by reducing downtime, improving productivity, and minimizing waste.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure smooth functioning of machinery and equipment.

2. Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise production staff, engineers, supervisors, and operators.

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct regular meetings, provide performance feedback, and facilitate training to enhance workforce skills.

  • Manage workforce allocation and resolve conflicts or operational challenges effectively.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, industry best practices, and company policies.

  • Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) departments to maintain product integrity.

  • Address deviations, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and customer specifications.

4. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Standards

  • Implement and monitor occupational health and safety standards throughout the plant.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safe disposal of chemical waste.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency drills.

  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure the proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

5. Regulatory Adherence

  • Stay updated on national and international chemical industry regulations.

  • Ensure plant operations comply with statutory requirements, including labor laws and environmental guidelines.

  • Coordinate with external regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.

6. Strategic Planning and Development

  • Contribute to the company’s strategic vision by aligning plant operations with business objectives.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, cost optimization, and technological upgrades.

  • Develop annual budgets, control operational expenses, and monitor financial performance.

  • Support expansion plans, new product development, and process improvements.

7. Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective communication channels with management, staff, vendors, and clients.

  • Represent the plant in external meetings, audits, and compliance reviews.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering consistent quality and timely production.
