We are a 75-member team, embarking on an exciting journey that aspires to facilitate a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society through grant-making. Over the last 5 years, 300+ grants have been made in our areas of intervention (further broken down into specific clusters) – Gender, Nutrition, Urban Poor, Land and Forest Dependent, Children in need of Protection, Disability and Governance. The Philanthropic Initiatives represents a workplace that is well entrenched in diversity, inclusion, and consists of individuals who are proficient at being specialized generalists who can double and triple hat with ease, playing a variety of roles with an aim to transform the organization’s mission.


1.   Anchoring the grant approval process

a.   Own the monthly Grants Committee meetings and Board meetings

·        Coordinate across teams for timely submission of documents and other information

·        Quality check the Board documents for clarity, conciseness, consistency and adherence to templates

b.   Support the weekly internal meetings for grant proposal presentations 

2.   Improving the grant approval process

a.   Support cluster leads to prepare simple and effective grant proposals and minimize rework

b.   Aim to automate the entire grant approval process and minimize staff intervention

c.    Understand the Board’s requirements and effectively liaison between leadership and program team members

3.   Responding to need-based communication for the Board

a.   Provide specific responses as required by Board members, which could involve writing or re-writing notes based on information received from various teams

b.   Maintain and organize all Board communication materials for easy access

4.   Supporting other initiatives

a.   Contribute to the website and other content creation requirements, as required

b.   Engage in new initiatives and provide cross-functional coordination, as required

Qualifications and skills

a.   Degree from a reputed institution with a good academic record

b.   4-10 years of experience (mix of corporate and development sector experience preferred)

c.    Excellent English language skills to conceptualize and articulate based on available information

d.   Proficiency in MS Office and eye for detail to be able to quality check and edit the Board communication

e.   Ability to see the big picture and interpret information to build a broad understanding of philanthropy and our areas of intervention

f.     Ability to swiftly coordinate and follow up with diverse teams, navigate through uncertainty and tight timelines, and have an attitude of ‘get it done right the first time’

g.   Ability to work with Leadership conceptually, communicate succinctly, maintain confidentiality, and manage timelines to get the work done
