Position Overview
The Manager – Store Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily functioning of a retail store to ensure smooth business operations, maximum customer satisfaction, and achievement of sales targets. This role involves managing staff, monitoring inventory, ensuring compliance with company standards, and optimizing store performance.
A Store Operations Manager serves as the link between the company’s strategic goals and on-ground execution, ensuring that every aspect of the store contributes to profitability, customer experience, and brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Store Management & Operations

Supervise daily store activities including sales, customer service, merchandising, and housekeeping.

Ensure the store is well-maintained, clean, and visually appealing at all times.

Monitor footfall, sales performance, and conversion rates to identify growth opportunities.

Handle store openings, closings, and daily cash reconciliation.

Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and operational guidelines.
2. Sales & Customer Experience

Drive store sales by motivating staff to meet and exceed targets.

Deliver excellent customer service to enhance satisfaction and retention.

Resolve escalated customer complaints or service issues with professionalism.

Introduce upselling and cross-selling techniques to increase revenue.

Organize promotional campaigns, discounts, and in-store events to attract customers.
3. Team Leadership & Staff Management

Recruit, train, and mentor store employees (sales executives, cashiers, floor staff, etc.).

Conduct daily briefings to assign roles, review performance, and update staff on store goals.

Motivate team members through recognition, coaching, and performance appraisals.

Manage employee schedules, leaves, and attendance to ensure adequate coverage.

Build a collaborative and customer-focused work culture.
4. Inventory & Merchandising

Monitor stock levels, prevent shortages, and ensure timely replenishment.

Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse teams, and distributors for stock movement.

Minimize shrinkage and pilferage through proper stock handling and audits.

Oversee visual merchandising and product placement to maximize customer attraction.

Implement inventory control systems and periodic stock-taking.
5. Financial & Administrative Duties

Prepare and manage the store budget, including operating expenses.

Track financial KPIs such as daily sales, profit margins, and expense control.

Maintain accurate cash handling, billing, and banking procedures.

Submit daily/weekly/monthly operational and financial reports to senior management.
6. Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and hygiene standards in the store.

Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to ensure operational integrity.

Train staff on emergency procedures, safety protocols, and customer handling.
