Evangelical Social Action Forum (ESAF) is leading national voluntary organization established in 1992 as a response to the social and economic needs of the people. ESAF stands for sustainable holistic transformation of the poor and the marginalized for a just and fair society. Evangelical Social Action Forum is a registered charitable society, born out of deep conviction that our deeds should match our words. The society was launched in 1992 by a group of professionals in Kerala, India and at present it cater to more than 740000 marginalized community members spread across eight states of India and involves in livelihoods, natural resource management, human resource development, disaster relief & rehabilitation, community health & micro energy development program.

Having realized that there are several communities in the tribal belts of Jharkhand and west Bengal states of eastern India who are leading lesser lives, ESAF reached out to such tribes who lack access to Quality health care, education, roads, electricity or any other basic amenities that could enable them to get mainstreamed and benefit from the economic and social development of our country.

ESAF is primarily involved in 22 districts of Jharkhand and birbhum district of west Bengal through four major key intervention areas:

• Healthcare services
• Leadership development

GONATURE is a venture of ESAF in the tribal heartland of India – Jharkhand & West Bengal to provide opportunities for the marginalized and tribal craftsmen to enterprise and live a dignified life. It is a unique blend of the eco-knowledge of the indigenous people groups and their commendable craft skills. We are committed to bring the best crafts from the marginalized artisans of rural India without any compromise in utility and quality.

GONATURE crafts is a unique range of hand crafted products by the tribal & rural artisans, in which majority of them are women. ESAF in collaboration with Jharcraft are dedicated to conserve the traditional skills of the indigenous people, natural resources, their closeness with nature and in turn decent financial returns to them.

• ESAF has trained more than 6000 artisans in bamboo, stone, leather and jute craft.
• Operating in 22 districts eventually developing them in to 110 craft clusters in partnership with Jharcraft (Govt. of Jharkhand).
• The income of individual has increased from 20-30 Rs earlier to 80-120 Rs a day which is almost 500-600% increase.
• Migration is arrested and education is promoted.
• Packing, labeling and other value addition done by business incubation centers in nearby towns.
• Marketing done by ESAF Producers Company.
