Job Description
Mechanical Technician
Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical systems and equipment. Performs routine inspections, identifies mechanical issues, and ensures all machinery operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repair
-
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of worn parts on mechanical equipment.

Inspect machinery and mechanical systems regularly to identify faults or issues.

Diagnose mechanical problems and implement corrective measures to minimize downtime.

Repair or replace defective components such as bearings, gears, belts, pumps, and valves.

Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical assemblies as required.
2. Installation and Commissioning

Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery or mechanical systems.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals to assemble and install equipment correctly.

Ensure new installations meet design specifications and operational standards.

Collaborate with engineers and contractors during installation and testing phases.
3. Equipment Testing and Calibration

Conduct operational tests to verify the functionality and safety of mechanical systems.

Calibrate mechanical instruments and equipment to maintain precision and accuracy.

Document test results and maintenance activities in logs or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

Quickly identify mechanical faults and determine root causes using appropriate diagnostic tools.

Develop practical solutions to mechanical issues, balancing safety, cost, and efficiency.

Provide technical support and guidance to operators and junior technicians.
5. Health and Safety Compliance
-
Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and encourage safety awareness among team members.

Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions.
6. Documentation and Reporting
-
Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts inventory.

Prepare reports on equipment condition, maintenance performed, and recommendations for improvements.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and engineering teams regarding mechanical issues and project status.
7. Continuous Improvement

Suggest improvements to mechanical processes, tools, or equipment to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Stay updated on emerging mechanical technologies, tools, and best practices.

Participate in training programs and workshops to upgrade technical skills.
